Kevin Ling, born and residing in Hong Kong, is a cross-media artist and art educator who travels between different cities. His work focuses on capturing the “gap” between the everyday and the art world. Ling excels at starting with extremely small actions—such as blowing air, playing dice, or washing the floor—and, through practice in different countries and cultural contexts, he reinterprets these actions with deeper meaning, challenging the boundaries of viewers’ everyday imagination and initiating a dialogue about the possibilities of life.
As a passionate practitioner of art education, Ling is committed to lowering the barriers to creation. He advocates that art should return to individual sensory experience, allowing everyone to rediscover their own observational and creative potential through play and daily activities. He believes that when art permeates the fabric of life, creation can transform into an inner freedom and power, inspiring a new generation’s understanding of the world from subtle perspectives. His works have been exhibited in Germany, Finland, Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Thailand, and are continuously featured in the Hong Kong Ming Pao Sunday Lifestyle publication. He is also the curator of the community art project “Pop up Playground” and a member of the Hass Lab creative team, continuously exploring the depth of art’s connection with people in different regions.
Participated in exhibitions including “Second Round Live” (#FFFFFF_blank, 2026, Kaohsiung, Taiwan), “Night Atlas: Treasure Rock Residency Program Season 2 2025” (Treasure Hill International Art Village, 2026, Taipei, Taiwan), “Festival Kebudayaan Yogyakarta 2025” (Gungnung Kidu, 2025, Yogyakarta, Indonesia), “NEW PLATFORM -Alternative ASIA-” (ArtCenterNEW, 2025, Yokohama, Japan), “Pop up playground” (Anchor Street Playground, 2025, Hong Kong), “My heart space” (Sheung Shui Centre, 2025, Hong Kong), ”Halfbread club”(Goethe Gallery,Hong Kong Art Center ,Hong Kong,2025), ‘Mega Family: Imagining Home, Hong Kong International Photo Festival Flagship Exhibition 2024” (Hong Kong Art Center ,Hong Kong,2024),”Performance co-lab: Symbiotic Rehearsal” (Tai Kwun Contemporary, 2024, Hong Kong), and “Transmutation” (Parallel Space, 2024, Hong Kong),”Life exchange:community art ” (The Bridge+ Humanities and Arts Space, 2024, Hong Kong),” r̶o̶u̶n̶d̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶” (Zit-Dim Art Space,Tainan,Taiwan,2024),”Token of remembrance”(Myymälä2 Gallery,Finland,2024),“Unfinished: The Invisible Condi-tion” (Wure area, Hong Kong, 2021),”New Ink Art Movement Il “Keep Up the Good Fun””(Hong Kong Arts Center ,Hong Kong,2023) ,”MacGuffin”(B’in Co-op,2023,Hong Kong), “Everyday life in Hong Kong and Fukuoka: The study of Contempo-rary Arts and Kougengaku”(Art space tetra, 2023, Fukuoka Japan),“Under.line”(PS Artspace, 2023, Perth,Australia), ”Blue Throat: Start the Churning” (Art Central 2023)(” Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 2023, Hong Kong), ”38.4 (” 1999 artspace and WUREAREA, 2022, Hong Kong), “See you tomorrow” (Hong Kong Fringe Club,Hong Kong, 2022), “我 唔要見到有聲音』That was she said #C0C0C0 ” (PRÉCÉDÉE, Hong Kong, 2021), 『“ 我唔要見到有 聲音』That was she said” (Wure area, Hong Kong, 2021), “Unbeknown“ (Goethe-Gallery, Hong Kong,2019), “The Poetics of Blockages”(HKDI Gallery, Hong Kong, 2021), “hiddenfromview”(1a space, Hong Kong, 2020), “Stone” ( Finland, 2019) , “Weight Watcher”(Germany, 2018) and “Bangkok Biennial 2018 –BangMod Canal international Art Project in Communities (BCi- APC) and Flowing on the Verge of Margins (FoVoM)” (Thailand, 2018).Ling currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
